Hicham Lahlou is an emblematic figure in contemporary design, and for more than a decade has been numbered among the most prominent exponent of the worldwide design and creation sphere. He developed lines of urban furniture, created well-acclaimed interior designs for hotels, and expressed his talent as an artist and as an interior, product and graphic designer in branding strategies, packaging, commercial architecture, as well as in the field of strategic design,
He distinguished himself in furniture and art object design by signing collections for world class brands such as Ecart International, Daum, Lip, Aquamass, Airdiem, Nodus Rugs, through a creative process that combines his sensitivity for history and civilizations, with modernism and universality of creation in general. His refined creations are always imbued with cultural and identity references subtly integrated with modern lines.
He has been part of several exhibitions in Europe, Russia, the Arab World, Asia, Brazil, America & Africa.
He gives conferences in several countries, presides contests encouraging young talents and founded in 2014 the Africa Design Award.
In 2015, Hicham Lahlou celebrated a course of 20 years in creation, 15 of which he spent working in an international environment. He made this year a historic entrance into one of the most important design museums in the world, « Vitra Design Museum in Germany » where one of his major works has been exhibited as part of the worldwide exhibition « Making Africa – A Continent of Contemporary Design ». One of his works is also exhibited in the prestigious « Guggenheim Museum Bilbao ». Hicham Lahlou is one the members of the advisory committee of the exhibition « Making Africa »
